Privacy Policy
For extension — Chrome Browser Extension
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how extension ("the Extension", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you install and use our Chrome browser extension. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices. By installing or using the Extension, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.
2. Information We Collect
Specifically, the Extension does not:
- Collect any personal information or user data
- Track your browsing activity, history, or interactions
- Send any information to external servers (our own or third-party)
- Use cookies, beacons, pixels, or any tracking technologies
- Share any data with third parties (analytics, advertising, payment processors, error tracking, or otherwise)
- Access your personal accounts, credentials, or authentication tokens
3. Chrome Permissions Disclosure
Below is a complete list of the Chrome permissions declared in the Extension's manifest.json file, along with a precise explanation of why each permission is used. Each permission is exercised only for the purpose stated below.
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
storage |
To save your Extension settings, preferences, and configuration locally on your device using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage API. No data ever leaves your device. |
activeTab |
To access the content of the currently active tab only when you explicitly invoke the Extension (for example, by clicking the toolbar icon or using a keyboard shortcut). The Extension cannot read any tab you do not directly interact with. |
tabs |
To read the URL and title of the active tab when needed for [specific function, e.g., "generating a page summary" or "saving the page to your local notebook"]. Tab metadata is processed locally and never transmitted. |
scripting |
To inject the Extension's content script into the current page in order to perform [specific function, e.g., "extract readable text" or "highlight content"]. Injected scripts run locally and send no data externally. |
host_permissions |
To allow the Extension to operate on [specific domains, e.g., "example.com/*"]. The Extension processes the page content locally and does not collect, log, or transmit any data from these pages. |
contextMenus |
To add a right-click context-menu entry that lets you trigger the Extension's functionality from any page. |
notifications |
To display local desktop notifications when [specific event, e.g., "a long-running task completes"]. Notifications are generated and shown entirely by your browser. |
4. How We Use Information
Because the Extension does not collect any user data, we do not use, process, sell, rent, lease, or transfer any personal information. All functionality — including any feature that touches page content, tabs, or storage — is performed locally within your browser.
5. Third-Party Services
The Extension does not integrate with or send data to any third-party service, including but not limited to:
- Analytics platforms (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, etc.)
- Advertising networks or ad-tech vendors
- Payment processors (Stripe, PayPal, etc.)
- Crash reporting or error tracking services (Sentry, Bugsnag, etc.)
- Customer relationship or marketing platforms
No data is shared with any third party under any circumstance.
6. Data Storage, Retention, and Deletion
All Extension-related data (such as user preferences, settings, and any locally cached content) is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage APIs. We do not maintain any servers, databases, or back-end infrastructure that holds your data.
To delete all data associated with the Extension, you may either:
- Remove the Extension from Chrome (visit
chrome://extensions, locate the Extension, and click "Remove"); or - Clear the Extension's storage via Chrome's site-data settings (
chrome://settings/cookies→ "See all site data and permissions" → search for the Extension).
Data is retained on your device only as long as the Extension remains installed. Uninstalling the Extension removes all locally stored data associated with it.
7. Children's Privacy
The Extension is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction, such as 16 in certain EU member states). We do not knowingly collect, store, or process any information from children. If you believe a child has used the Extension in a way that has inadvertently shared personal information, please contact us at the email address below so we can assist.
8. International Data Transfers
Because we do not collect any user data, there are no international data transfers to disclose. No data leaves your device, and no data crosses any national border as a result of using the Extension.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices, the Extension, or for legal and regulatory reasons. When we update the Policy, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we may also provide additional notice through the Extension itself or through other channels.
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your privacy.
